Massa Industries Ltd. (Canada) is an import, manufacturing, distribution company in the food and beverage industry, founded by Assadou Mwumvaneza in 2015. It currently imports coffee, tea and food products from East Africa, Asia and North American markets.
Why did you get involved in the coffee and food business?
Passion, a dream and an interest in entrepreneurship; and making an impact in my two homelands-Rwanda and Canada.
What are the values that drive your business?
Honesty, integrity and quality. I only buy and partner with co-operatives or associations that impact rural communities in Rwanda and Africa as a whole.
From your perspective, what do you think is needed to grow the export market for Made in Rwanda food & beverage products?
- Improved facilitation/ coordination for overseas exporters.
- Flexible infrastructure/ transportation options and adequate storage facility are needed to grow the export market.
- High quality packaging and nutritional fact details (available in multiple languages) are important factors that increase the value addition of products abroad.
- We need to support/ buy Rwandan/ African brands to challenge the mainstream stigma/ stereotypes associated with African products […] being of low quality and value for the global market.
What are your plans for 2020 and beyond?
Invest in branding and marketing of Massa products, in particular Massa designed packaging for a global market.

A strong and viable company that focuses on quality and impact within the food and beverage industry.
